So, what are the different types of journaling?
There are many types of journaling, and each one can be beneficial in its own way. Here are 7 different types of journaling that you may want to try:

Personal Journaling
One of the most popular types of journaling is diary journaling. Think back to our teenage years when we would journal about our crushes and dates. That was our entry into journaling. You can buy personal journals with a lock on them, or no lock. It is all about personal preference.

Food Journaling
If you suffer from any kind of food-related medical problem a food diary can be beneficial. For example, I was going to the emergency room a lot for my GERD (acid reflux). Certain foods trigger my symptoms. My doctors have even suggested I keep a food journal so we can pinpoint the issues. A food journal is good for my kidney disease as well. A food journal type of journaling is also beneficial if you are trying to lose weight.

Bullet Journaling
Bullet journaling is often called BuJu journaling. Bullet journaling is a system that can be used as a diary, and to-do list, and anything else you want to use it for. It is completely customizable. Maybe you have an idea of a goal in life you want to achieve, map it out in your bullet journal with a graph. These types of journaling has become very popular in recent years because people love how organized it can keep them.

Self-Discovery Journaling
This type of journaling is all about delving into the depths of your soul. It can be scary, but also very eye-opening. You will want to ask yourself some tough questions that will make you think. This type of journaling can help you get in touch with who you really are and what you want out of life.
We are always growing and changing and this is a good thing. Self-discovery journaling helps you dig deeper into your core and find the true you.
It can really help your mental health as well. Michelle at Divas with a purpose has a great list of journaling prompts to help you with this style of journaling.

Travel Journaling
This is a great type of journaling for those who love to travel. You can document all your different trips in one place and look back on them fondly. It is also a great way to keep track of different places you have been and what you did while you were there. This type of journaling can be very creative as well.
Another way to do a travel journal is to do a vision board. You can make a visual journal of places you want to visit for the year. A vision board helps you to remember your goals as well. You can hang it on the wall, or you can do a digital one and make it your background for your electronics as a reminder.
Clarissa from Passports and Parenting talks about how her family makes a digital vision board for their travel wonder lust every year.

Pregnancy Journal
Pregnancy journaling is a great way to document your pregnancy journey. You can write about how you are feeling, what changes you are going through, and even your cravings. This is also a great way to keep track of your appointments and different things that happen during your pregnancy.
You can also do a pregnancy scrapbook. This is a great way to document different things about your pregnancy as well. You can add ultrasound pictures, belly progression pictures, and even a hospital bracelet from when you had your baby.
I kept one with my daughter and I didn’t know it was a real thing. I just knew it was going to be my only pregnancy and I wanted to remember everything about it. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
You could share your pregnancy journal with your child when they are expecting their first child. What better gift than to share the experiences you went through? Bonus, it’s in your own handwriting a cherished thing in our modern times of everything being digitalized.

Gratitude Journaling
This is a great way to start your day on a positive note. Every morning, write down five things you are grateful for. It can be anything from your bed to the sun shining. This is a great way to focus on the positive things in your life and it can really change your outlook for the day.
You could also do a gratitude jar. This is a great way to document all the things you are grateful for throughout the year. At the end of the year, you can read through all your different entries and reflect on all the good that has happened in your life.
This is one of the great types of journaling for those who struggle with anxiety or depression. It can really help to focus on the positive and it can be a great reminder of how far you have come.
