24 Essentials in the kitchen I recommend
The list of essentials in the kitchen can be endless and vary from person to person. This is a list of 24 of my favorite items to get someone started.

Wooden Spoons
Wooden spoons are great because they handle the heat better. Have you ever left a stirring spoon too close to the stove and then grabbed it? Wooden spoons do not retain heat like that, and they also do not trap germs and bacteria.
Dutch Oven

A Dutch oven is a great way to cook things like soups and stews. It goes in the oven and cooks better than simmering on the stove. You can even make bread in it. Here is a Dutch oven bread recipe that only takes 4 ingredients, the does take a day of rising, however.
Paring Knife

Do you know the use of a paring knife? A paring knife is great for cutting things like the peels off of apples or potatoes. It's also great when you are mining small items like onions or garlic. It just gives you more control of the blade when you are working with smaller food.
Garlic Press

A garlic press is a great way to hand-press your fresh garlic. There is nothing better than fresh garlic. I will be honest and admit that I usually purchase minced garlic in a jar. It is just not the same as fresh minced garlic though.

Box Grater
A box grater is one of the essentials in the kitchen. It can be used to shred zucchini for zucchini bread with ease. It can also be used to shred block cheese for homemade macaroni and cheese. Cheese always tastes better and melts better when you shred it yourself.

Immersion Blender
Have you heard of an immersion blender? It is a handheld blender. You can use it to create great recipes such as smoothies, milkshakes, salad dressings, soups, etc. Did you know you can use it as a whip too? It will combine things more efficiently for you and it is easier on your hands/wrist when living with chronic pain.

Sheet Pan
A sheet pan is also commonly called a cookie sheet. Every kitchen needs a few of these pans. Not only can you make delicious homemade cookies on them, but you can roast vegetables and cook all kinds of things on them. You can even make sheet pan meals. To make these meals, you simply add all of your ingredients on a sheet pan put it in the oven, and have a delicious meal.

Non-Stick Skillet
A non-stick skillet is exactly what it sounds like. It is a skillet that has a coating that makes food not stick to it. That is not to say food can't stick to it, it's just easier to cook and clean. I love making eggs in my non-stick skillet, they slide right out. Clean-up is a breeze, the eggs wipe right out of the pan.

Cast iron skillet
Another skillet that is recommended in every kitchen is a cast iron skillet. You can make things like classic cornbread in it. I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter and anemic. They suggested that I cook my food in a cast iron skillet because some of the iron from the skillet would be transported into my food.
The thing to remember with cast iron pots and pans, however, is that you need to season them. This makes sure that they stay at their best and your pans last for a long time.

Hand Mixer
A hand mixer is great for mixing ingredients you need like cakes and pies. There are a lot of recipes that require you to beat the ingredients together. A hand mixer is one of the essentials in the kitchen. It makes cooking and baking faster.

Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Grill
An air fryer is a great kitchen appliance. Using an air fryer is a healthier way to “fry” your food. You use air instead of grease. There are many different brands of air fryers on the market. My personal favorite is the Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 indoor grill. I have this particular machine and use it just about every single day. As the name simply, it does 5 things in 1. You can grill, air fry, bake, roast, and dehydrate all within one machine. I've even made an omelet in the air fryer.

Coffee Maker
A coffee maker is a staple in most kitchens. Most people start their days with a nice hot cup of coffee. There are 2 different types of coffee makers, one for ground coffee, and one for k-cups. You can also purchase one that does both. I am not a plain coffee drinker. I love Frappuccinos. I make a copycat mocha Starbucks Frappuccino at home all the time.

Slow Cooker
We all know how great a slow cooker better known as a crockpot is. They have been around for ages! There is nothing better than putting the ingredients for dinner in a slow cooker in the morning and having dinner done to perfection at dinner time. It is also safe to let it cook all day while you are at work. There are countless recipes you can make in a slow cooker. They are great for large families and get-togethers. I recommend this great crockpot stuffed bell peppers recipe.

Stand Mixer
I previously mentioned that one of the essentials in the kitchen was a hand mixer. You may prefer a stand mixer. A stand mixer is great for someone who has pain in their hands from arthritis and can not hold a mixer for as long as a recipe calls for. With a stand mixer, depending on the model you buy you can also purchase different attachments for it that can make your baking much easier. Kitchen Aid is the high-end model that everyone drools over. When you are just starting out, or on a budget, you can use a lower-end stand mixer just as well.

Vegetable Peeler
A vegetable peeler is something we don't think about much. It is just not a kitchen item that sticks out in our minds. However, it is an essential item for the kitchen because you never know when you'll need it. I use mine all the time to peel potatoes and cucumbers.

Oven Mitts
Of course, oven mitts made the essentials in the kitchen list. There are two different styles you can choose from a full mitt that your hand fits into or a square mitt. I always choose the full-hand style. I am clumsy and always burn myself in the kitchen and these tend to help eliminate that. You can also choose between cloth and silicone ones. There are a bunch of dinner styles and colors to choose from.

Dish Towels
Dish towels are so universal. You can use them to wipe up spills, dry dishes, cover plates, etc. Sometimes a recipe such as when you are making a bread recipe will say to cover with a clean dish towel to let it rise. You can find dish towels that match your kitchen decor or change them out for the holidays. I have them for my favorite colors pink and purple.

Citrus Juicer
Have you ever had fresh squeezed lemonade? You need a citrus juicer for that. Sometimes a recipe will also call for fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice depending on the recipe. You can also make fresh-squeezed orange juice. There are different styles of citrus juicers you can choose from. They range from you doing all the work to more expensive models where you simply place the citrus in the juicer and it squeezes all the juice for you. They also range in price.

Cooking Utensils
Cooking utensils is a no-brainer. You need utensils to stir and flip your food while it is cooking. It is important to get good quality cooking utensils so that they don't melt, or bend. You also want to make sure you want to scratch your non-stick pans. Silicone is a good way to go. They don't scratch things and they are easy to clean. I am slowly starting to replace my cooking utensils with silicone.

Stock Pot
A good stock pot is important to have on hand. It can be used to make soup, stew, homemade spaghetti sauce, or even chili. It's used for when you have a large volume of something. I remember when my mom would bring out her stock pot I knew she would be making a big batch of something good.

Kitchen Knives
Knives are essentials in the kitchen. If you don't have knives, you can't cut anything and prepare your food. Knives are used to cut meat into certain sizes or trim the fat off of meat. I am always using my kitchen knives. I also have a favorite knife that I use the most. You can store them in a drawer or you can get a metal bar and attach it to the wall or put it on the refrigerator and the knife will stick to it for easier access.

Knife Sharpener
When you have knives, you want to keep them sharp. A knife sharpener will do that. There are 3 different types of knife sharpeners you can choose from: electric, manual, and sharpening stones. I have one that is considered manual. I simply run the knife through back and forth through the groves and it sharpens the knife for you. When I do this, my knife is instantly sharpened for me.

Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook
I feel essentials in the kitchen include a good set of cookbooks. The Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook is a tried and true cookbook. The original red and white checked cookbook is traditionally passed down from generation to generation. This cookbook is a classic and is full of not only recipes but teaches you different things about cooking and baking.

The Cook's Book
When it comes to essentials in the kitchen, The Cook's Book needs to be at the top of the list. There are a ton of cookbooks and books about cooking on the market. The Cook's Book is great for anyone who is just starting to embrace the love of cooking or baking. It has all kinds of how-to's and recipes. It teaches you about flavor layering and so much more. It's perfect for not only a beginner it is a great reference guide type book for someone more experienced in the kitchen as well.
In conclusion, a well-equipped kitchen is essential for any culinary adventurer. With the right tools and ingredients, you can create delicious and exciting dishes from all over the world.
