While my husband and I both suffer from a lot of medical conditions and both have anxiety, we do have a fun-filled rich life. It’s all about taking into account what your triggers are and making alternatives that you can do in your plans if you start to get anxious.
For example, we don’t drive so we have to rely on public transportation everywhere. We know that after a certain point, we just need to get home to decompress.
One thing we agree upon before even leaving the house is that we will take the bus to where we are going.
However, when it’s time to go home, we will take an Uber. Uber is our savior! It’s easier for my husband to force himself to go when he knows that it will not take forever to get back home.
Triggers are a big part of anxiety and they are different for everyone. They can be the same, but also different.

When trying to stop panic attacks, it’s important that you find a method of attack which suits your needs. When you feel one coming on, your symptoms might be overwhelming; shortness of breath, ringing in ears, etc. Everyone experiences these episodes differently and will have different outcomes from the same action; so don’t give up! There are many things one can do:
- Count backward from 100
- Say “NO!” out loud as many times as needed
- Listen to music
- Watch a movie or television show
- Call someone on the phone who can calm you down

The more healthy you are, the smarter your brain will be. Cutting back on stimulants like alcohol and caffeine can help as well in cutting down some of those cravings for junk food that might be making us fat all over again!
Things like eating better and focusing on proper nutrition, not smoking cigarettes, help tremendously with managing your anxiety.
