3 Types of things that make anxiety worse

Not Feeling Safe

One of the most common things that always makes anxiety worse is when you don’t feel safe. That might be because you are in an unsafe situation at the moment, or because there is some alarm going off in your head which is making you feel that way. Ultimately, it doesn’t make a difference. You need to try and build a life in which you feel as safe as possible, otherwise, your anxiety is merely going to get worse and worse. At home, secure your doors and get new windows with no payments and no interest for 24 months to feel more secure. Out in public, be sure to always know an escape route.

Trying To Stop Anxious Thoughts

One of the unfortunate things about anxiety is that you can’t simply force it to stop. If you could, everyone would do that, and the world would be a much happier place. However, it doesn’t work like that. Actually, when you try to stop thoughts, you end up giving them a lot of energy, and the harder you try, the worse they get. Rather than trying to stop the thoughts, you need to simply become more mindful of them, and allow them to do their thing without getting too caught up in them along the way. It’s not easy, but it is worthwhile and worth the practice.

Being Alone OR Being Surrounded

It’s important to remember that anxiety is different for each sufferer. For some people, being alone is just about the worst thing in the world. For others, that is much better than being around lots of people. It’s all about what’s right for you and what’s wrong for you, and only you can really work this out at the end of the day. If you know you are better alone, be sure to carve out some time just for you, but make sure you also spend some time with others as without a social life your anxiety will get worse anyway. If you prefer to be around people a lot, build your life so that you can do that. It’s all about knowing what is best for you, and making it happen.

As you can see, there are numerous things that can make anxiety worse. Just try to approach this as sensibly as you can and care for yourself along the way.
