Here are 5 reasons to use the same pharmacy
Here are 5 reasons I feel you should use the same pharmacy for all of your medication needs.
Personal Care
When you use the same pharmacy for all of your medications you build a relationship with the pharmacist and their staff. When I go in to pick up my scripts the pharmacist always asks how I’m doing, and how my mom is doing (she uses the same pharmacy). It gives you that warm feeling that you are being taken care of like you are family.
Can watch for known drug interactions
Did you know that there are medications that should not be mixed? What about if you are allergic to a medication? If you use one pharmacy they will have all of your medications on file. They can check any new prescriptions against your current ones for possible interactions or allergic reactions.
Less Stressful
Using one pharmacy can be less stressful. When you go to the doctor you only have to list one pharmacy. It’s also easier to keep track of what needs to be refilled and refilled. It also saves you time because you don’t have to go to more than one pharmacy to pick up your prescriptions. It’s easy to transfer all of your medications to just one pharmacy.
The possibility of saving money
Did you know that the copay can vary from pharmacy to pharmacy? Your copay depends on how much your insurance will pay for a prescription. If the pharmacy charges more, your copay is higher. Sometimes you can even get coupons for other things the pharmacy sells. Even my smaller independent pharmacy carries some common over-the-counter medications and first aid supplies.
The possibility of having them delivered
I love that more and more pharmacies are starting to offer delivery services at no extra charge. Both of the pharmacies in my area now offer delivery. One has more days they deliver than the other though. The reason we love this service is that we live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building and the pharmacy is down the street from us. It’s only a few blocks away but there are hills. Hills + medical problems that involve mobility and breathing issues do not mix. When the pharmacy calls to let us know our prescriptions are ready, I simply ask for them to add us to the delivery list! Easy-Peasy.
